Frida Kahlo (7/6/1907 – 7/13/1954) was a Mexican painter best known for her self portraits. She married famous Mexican artist Diego Rivera twice, in 1929 and 1940. Both were communists who later provided assistance to Leon Trotsky as he sought out political asylum from the Soviet Union during Joseph Stalin’s regime. Her self portraits relay the feelings of loneliness she experienced throughout her life.
